چکیده

This paper explores the feasibility of roll–pitch–yaw integrated autopilots for a high angle-of-attack missile. Investigation of the aerodynamic characteristics indicates strong cross-coupling effects between the motions in longitudinal and lateral directions. Robust control techniques based on H1 synthesis are employed to design roll– pitch–yaw integrated autopilots. The performance of the proposed roll–pitch–yaw integrated controller is tested in high-fidelity nonlinear 5-degree-of-freedom simulations. The proposed controllers are scheduled as a function of total angle of attack in a linear parameter varying framework with proportional navigation guidance laws. The integrated controller demonstrates satisfactory performance that cannot be achieved by the controller designed in a decoupled manner.

Nonlinear Design of 3-axes Autopilot for Short Range Skid-to-turn Surface-to-surface Homing Missiles

Traditionally, missile autopilots have been designed using linear control approaches with gain scheduling. Autopilot design is typically carried out in the frequency domain and the plant is linearized around various operating points on the trajectory. Moreover, three single axis autopilots are usually designed without considering the interaction among the motion axes, i.e., the autopilots in ea...

Reduced Order Observer (DGO) based State Variable Design of Two Loop Lateral Missile Autopilot in Pitch Plane

–In this paper, first the transfer function and block diagram model of a flight path rate demand autopilot (two loop) in pitch plane has been shown and then its state model has been developed. Then state feedback controller has been designed. Thereafter both of Luenberger and Das & Ghosal Observers (DGO) are implemented for the above said two loop autopilot. Finally the system, observer and sta...

Roll Position Demand Autopilot Design using State Feedback and Reduced Order Observer (DGO)

– A Roll Position demand (as well as Roll Position Control) missile autopilot design methodology for a class of guided missile, based on state feedback, Ackermann pole-placement and reduced order Das & Ghosal observer (DGO), is proposed. The open loop unstable model of the roll control (or roll position demand) autopilot has been stabilized by using pole placement and state feedback. The non-mi...

Robust Control for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle that suppresses Pitch and Yaw Coupling

Attitude control systems for autonomous underwater vehicles are often implemented with separate controllers for pitch motion in the vertical plane and yaw motion in the horizontal plane. We propose a novel time-varying model for a streamlined autonomous underwater vehicle that explicitly displays the coupling between yaw and pitch motion due to nonzero roll angle and/or roll rate. The model fac...

Author Guidelines for 8

The traditional three-loop autopilot[11] suffers from coupling in pitch, yaws, roll channel as well as degraded performance due to huge aerodynamic uncertainties. Sliding mode control is applied to design autopilot for skid-to-turn missile (STT) missile systems to overcome the above stated difficulties. The design has two steps. The first step involves feedback linearization and the second stag...
